Discovery makes published research freely available to read and charges authors no submission, peer-review or publication fees.

No author fees

There are no submission charges, peer-review charges or article processing charges. Acceptance is based on editorial assessment and peer review. Payment is not a condition of consideration or publication.

Copyright stays with the authors

Authors retain copyright in their work and grant Discovery permission to publish and identify itself as the original journal of publication. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to include material owned by others and for identifying any material that is not covered by the article’s license.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International license. It permits copying, sharing and adaptation for non-commercial purposes, with appropriate attribution, a license link and an indication of changes. Reuse must not imply endorsement. The full license text governs reuse.

Reuse beyond the license requires permission from the relevant rights holder unless it is otherwise permitted by law. Follow the credit line and applicable license for third-party material. Other rights, including privacy rights, may also apply.

Sharing your article

Authors may share their own work on personal or institutional websites and in suitable repositories. They retain the right to authorize other uses of their work and must respect any third-party rights. Include the publication details and a link to the journal’s version so readers can locate subsequent corrections or notices. A preprint should link to the published version when it becomes available.
